Hello, I'm Dr. Ashwick
Licensed clinical psychologist, researcher at heart, and a firm believer that good therapy is equal parts science and humanity.
12+ Years of Dedicated Practice
Warmth first, evidence always
I founded Ashwick Psychotherapy on a simple conviction: the best outcomes happen when rigorous, research-backed methods meet a relationship where you feel genuinely seen. My practice blends CBT, EMDR, exposure therapy, and emotionally focused approaches — chosen for your goals, never one-size-fits-all.
Before private practice, I spent years in hospital and university clinic settings, training in psychological assessment and treating everything from severe anxiety to complex trauma. That foundation shapes every treatment plan I write today.
Outside the office, I teach, write for the practice journal, and supervise early-career psychologists. I live in Brooklyn with my family — and I bring the same steadiness to my own life that I coach in session.

What working with me feels like
Clients describe sessions as direct but never cold. I'll notice patterns you can't see, say the thing others avoid, and laugh with you when laughter is the right medicine. Between sessions, you'll have concrete practices — not vague advice.
- Clear goals, reviewed together every few weeks
- Homework that fits real life, not textbooks
- Honest timelines — including when you're done
